It was a good feeling for coach Tim Cone to see Barangay Ginebra retain the PBA Governors’ Cup crown.

But the feeling would even be better if the Kings will be able to reclaim the Philippine Cup championship this coming season.

“I’d like to see Ginebra win the All-Filipino,” according to Cone. “I think that’s the one we all, LA (Tenorio) always talks about.”

The Kings failed to defend what is considered the league’s crown jewel last year after being eliminated in the first round of the playoffs by eventual champion TNT Tropang Giga.

Ginebra won its first Philippine Cup in more than a decade in 2020 during the league’s first ever bubble tournament at Clark, Pampanga.

Cone treasured that moment, but made clear it would be a very satisfying feeling regaining the crown with the fans now back in the stands.

“We were able to win in the bubble and that was nice. The first bubble, we won the All-Filipino,” said the 63-year-old champion coach.

“But we’d like to win the All-Filipino in front of our fans, that’s for sure. That’s the big crown, at this point.”
