Jeremiah Grey and Von Pessumal led the charge as Brgy. Ginebra sent TNT further down the team standings with an 81-67 victory in the PBA on Tour on Friday, July 21 at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
The Gin Kings’ streaky shooters conspired in the fourth quarter, combining for 18 of the team’s 25 points to prevent the Tropang Giga from registering a second straight win after finally breaking through in the pre-season exhibition game the previous time out.
The Brgy. Ginebra tandem ignited a 13-3 surge midway through the fourth quarter that broke TNT’s back.
Down by a solitary point, 61-62, the crowd darlings turned to Pessumal, who sank a booming trey before Grey scored on an and-1 play to spark the big run that helped Ginebra to also get back on track for a 5-5 record in the standings.
Sidney Onwubere had a game-high 21 points and 16 rebounds as he kept Ginebra afloat during TNT’s repeated attempts to turn the game around.
Grey also had a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds, while Pessumal, who had just five points in the first three periods, finished with 15.
Glenn Khobuntin topscored for TNT with 25 points but got no help from the rest of the Tropang Giga, who were also without their breakout game star Almond Vosotros.
