WATCH: Tim Cone Post-Game interview [Brgy. Ginebra vs Blackwater | October 15, 2020]

Brgy. Ginebra relied on an unlikely source for its second win in as many outings in the 2020 PBA Philippine Cup restart.

Prince Caperal shot the lights out of the Angeles University Foundation Sports Arena and Cultural Center and finished with a team-high 24 points as the Gin Kings outlasted the hard-fighting Blackwater Elite, 103-99, Thursday evening to improve to 2-0.

Brgy. Ginebra led throughout the early goings but saw its 14-point advantage disappear in the 3rd frame and entered the payoff period behind by 4, 72-76.

The Tim Cone-mentored squad, however, won’t be denied as Caperal conspired with Jeff Chan, Scottie Thompson and Aljon Mariano to put the game away for good.

“We are still trying to get a handle on our schemes and techniques. We haven’t done it in six months. We are not quite on the same page. But that stuff will come. It will come as we go forward and we get a little bit more practice time,” said Cone who heaped praises on the 6-foot-6 former reserve.

“We knew from Day 1 when we got Prince he could shoot the ball. He’s always been a good 3-pointer. He still has holes in his game, but we know he can get better. The fact that he’s shooting well is no surprise to us at all, we see him in practice everyday,” added the league’s most successful mentor.

Stanley Pringle contributed 17 points while Scottie Thompson and Jeff Chan chipped in 14 and 12 markers, respectively.
