Brgy. Ginebra San Miguel are once again PBA 3×3 champions.
A week after winning Leg 1, the Gin Kings defeated the Meralco Bolts 19-17 in the Finals of the PBA 3×3 First Conference Leg 2.
At the Ayala Malls Circuit in Makati, Kim Aurin scored four consecutive baskets to tie the game at 10 apiece after trailing 6-10.
Meralco was poised to win the championship and stun Ginebra in the waning seconds of the game after leading 15-14 with only a few plays remaining.
Donald Gumaru, however, had other ideas as he beat the bell with a reverse layup to force overtime.
In overtime, Ralph Cu made the decisive shot, sinking the game-winning two-pointer to help Ginebra claim their second consecutive 3×3 championship.
Brgy. Ginebra routed Purefoods in the quarterfinals, 17-13, and Blackwater in the semifinals, 22-17, en route to the Finals.
Meralco defeated Wilcon Depot 14-13 in the quarterfinals before defeating Cavitex 21-18 in the semifinals.
Yesterday, however, the Bolts were unable to repeat their Pool A victory over the Gin Kings, 21-14.
Cavitex defeated Blackwater, 19-15, to earn third place in the battle for third.
