WATCH: Brgy. Ginebra vs NLEX Game Highlights [PBA S49 Govs’ Cup | Sep. 3, 2024]

The Brgy. Ginebra team of old, the one fans have come to know and love, finally reawakened from its slumber.

The Gin Kings expertly subdued the NLEX Road Warriors, securing a dominant 119-91 victory that marked a crucial return to form in Group B of the PBA Governors’ Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Tuesday, Sept. 3.

A devastating defeat to the previously struggling Blackwater served as a critical wake-up call, prompting Ginebra’s homegrown players to rise to the occasion and lead the Kings to their second victory in four outings.

Stephen Holt delivered his finest performance in a Ginebra jersey, amassing 26 points, 11 rebounds, and six assists, easing the scoring burden from Justin Brownlee, who had shouldered the team’s offensive load in prior matches.

After posting remarkable scores of 51 and 37 in back-to-back games, Brownlee embraced a facilitating role this time, allowing his teammates to shine. Scottie Thompson, Maverick Ahanmisi, and rookie RJ Abarrientos all enjoyed their best outings of the season, contributing mightily to the win.

While Brownlee concluded the game with 13 points, nine assists, and seven rebounds, Thompson stepped up with a commendable 19 points. Ahanmisi found his rhythm, adding 20 points, while Abarrientos showcased his potential with a standout performance of 19 points, highlighted by three crucial three-pointers.

Brgy. Ginebra’s defensive edge finally resurfaced as they held the high-scoring Road Warriors—fresh off a morale-boosting victory over the San Miguel Beermen—at bay from the outset.
