San Miguel def Brgy. Ginebra, 95-92 [PBA S48 PH Cup | Apr. 5, 2024]

In a highly anticipated showdown at the Smart Araneta Coliseum this Friday, San Miguel will face off against Brgy. Ginebra in a clash that is sure to be a thrilling spectacle. The Beermen will put their undefeated record on the line against a team nipping at their heels in the standings.

With a flawless 3-0 record, the Beermen lead the pack, closely pursued by the NLEX Road Warriors at 4-1, and the NorthPort Batang Pier and the Gin Kings tied at 3-1. As they prepare to take the court for their 7:30 p.m. showdown, following the earlier match between TNT Tropang Giga and the Batang Pier at 4:30 p.m., both teams are riding high on morale-boosting victories from Easter Sunday.

Brgy. Ginebra’s recent victory over the Magnolia Hotshots has provided a much-needed confidence boost for the team, according to coach Tim Cone. However, they face the challenge of playing without the energy and presence of Scottie Thompson, who is still sidelined due to injury.

“They’re playing right now in a level that they don’t look like beatable. We’ll see what we can do,” said Cone.

Despite their recent successes, the Gin Kings will have their work cut out for them against the dominant defending champs. The Beermen, fresh off their Commissioner’s Cup triumph, boast a formidable lineup led by CJ Perez, Jericho Cruz, June Mar Fajardo, Terrence Romeo, Don Trollano, and Marcio Lassiter.

Perez, in particular, has been a standout performer with impressive scoring performances in recent games. His stellar 39-point performance in the All-Star Game was followed by a 32-point showing against the Fuel Masters, highlighting his offensive prowess.

As the two powerhouse teams gear up to face each other, fans can expect a fierce battle on the hardwood.
