Jamie Malonzo’s injury a huge concern for the team, says Tim Cone

Brgy. Ginebra is now in a state of uncertainty as they await news on the extent of Jamie Malonzo’s injury.

The high-leaping Fil-Am suffered an injury in the final moments of their recent game against NorthPort, causing concern among his teammates and coaching staff.

Despite finishing the game with 14 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists, Malonzo was unable to leave the court on his own and had to be carried out by his teammates.

Coach Tim Cone expressed his concern for Malonzo’s well-being, stating that the team is still unsure of the nature of his injury.

“We don’t know what exactly it is yet, but he need to be carried off the floor after the game. He can’t put weight on his leg so we will see what’s going on,” said Cone during the post-game presser. “Here’s hoping that it’s not too serious, so we’ll see.”

As Malonzo was seen limping his way out of the dugout and to the parking area, it is evident that he will require some time to recover.

While Cone did not want to speculate on the severity of the injury, he mentioned that it could potentially be a calf or Achilles issue.

“But I’m not a doctor so I don’t want to make a prognosis. At this point, he may be out for a few days, and hopefully does not stretch out into weeks or months. We can’t afford to lose him,” said Cone.

With the team’s next game scheduled for Friday against the TNT Tropang Giga, Brgy. Ginebra will have to make adjustments to their lineup in Malonzo’s absence.
