Brgy. Ginebra vs Blackwater | PBA Season 48 Philippine Cup
Brgy. Ginebra is determined to break their two-game losing streak as they go up against Blackwater in the highly anticipated main game of the PBA Season 48 Philippine Cup today, April 12, at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.
The league’s most popular team has suffered consecutive defeats, falling to defending champions San Miguel in a close 95-92 match on April 5, followed by a tough 91-85 loss to Terrafirma on April 7.
Tonight, the Gin Kings will look to bounce back and secure a much-needed victory when they clash with Blackwater at 7:30 p.m.
Both teams, along with TNT Tropang Giga, are currently tied for the fifth spot in the team standings with identical 3-3 records.
Blackwater, like Brgy. Ginebra, is also on a losing streak, dropping their last three games after starting the conference with three consecutive wins.
Brgy. Ginebra’s challenges this season have been exacerbated by the absence of star point guard and former MVP Scottie Thompson, who continues to recover from a back injury.
Veteran leader LA Tenorio acknowledged the team’s slow starts in their recent games as a key factor contributing to their losses.
“I think the problem really is we can’t set the tone from the start. We have to start really well. Obviously in our wins, we’re starting really well. And in our losses, we always start the game really flat,” explained Tenorio.
As the conference reaches its halfway mark, every game becomes crucial for both teams as they aim to secure a spot in the eight-team quarterfinals.
